Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Laptop Technician – Layer 2 to handle advanced diagnosis, repair, testing, and quality support for laptops in a refurbishment or service environment. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware faults, replacing components, identifying board-level issues, and ensuring repaired laptops meet quality standards before moving to the next stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose laptop hardware issues beyond basic testing.
- Repair and replace laptop components such as LCD, keyboard, palmrest, touchpad, battery, RAM, SSD/HDD, hinges, speakers, webcam, Wi-Fi card, and DC jack.
- Identify motherboard-level symptoms such as no power, no display, charging issues, overheating, short circuits, and liquid damage.
- Perform BIOS checks, BIOS password identification, boot testing, and basic BIOS configuration.
- Test laptops after repair to confirm functionality and stability.
- Support Layer 1 technicians with difficult faults and guide them on correct troubleshooting steps.
- Perform Windows installation, driver updates, activation checks, and basic software troubleshooting when required.
- Check and verify device specifications such as processor, RAM, storage, graphics, battery health, LCD type, and overall condition.
- Maintain repair records, issue remarks, and production status accurately in the system.
- Ensure repaired units meet company quality standards before sending to QC or next production stage.
- Follow ESD safety, workplace cleanliness, and proper handling of customer/company assets.
- Report recurring model issues, missing parts, or repair challenges to the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of laptop hardware troubleshooting.
- Experience with Dell, HP, Lenovo, Apple, Acer, and Asus laptops is preferred.
- Ability to diagnose no power, no display, keyboard, charging, battery, LCD, and boot-related issues.
- Good understanding of laptop parts and compatibility.
- Basic knowledge of Windows installation, BIOS, drivers, and device manager.
- Ability to use tools such as multimeter, screwdriver set, thermal paste, diagnostic software, and bootable USB tools.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work under production targets.
- Ability to document issues clearly.
Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI / Technical certification in electronics, computer hardware, or related field preferred.
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in laptop repair, refurbishment, or IT hardware service.
- Board-level repair knowledge is an added advantage but not mandatory.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a laptop refurbishment facility.
- Knowledge of grading laptops based on cosmetic and functional condition.
- Familiarity with testing batteries, LCDs, keyboards, ports, speakers, webcam, Wi-Fi, and chargers.
- Experience handling bulk laptop production or service center workflow.
Performance Expectations

- Timely completion of assigned units.
- Proper repair documentation.
- Good coordination with Layer 1, QC, and production supervisors.
Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
