Large Animal Veterinary Technician

AcuFast is looking for an energetic individual who is thrilled to join us in creating the future of pork production. We are currently interested in filling the position for a permanent full-time Large Animal Research Technician on a swine research center near Watertown, WI. This new position will be focused on laparoscopic artificial insemination, oocyte recovery and embryo transfer in pigs using sexed sorted sperm. Large animal experience is not necessary to apply.

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions, but is not limited to:

• Knowledge or expertise in large animal anesthesia protocols.
• Knowledge or understanding the importance of sterility or cleanliness for a surgical procedure.
• Ability to communicate (verbally and written) to supervisor, customers and research center employees.
• Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced changing environment.
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with company-related matters.
• Responsible for technical procedures such as data entry and record-keeping
• Flexibility with working schedule.
• Capable of working as a member of a high-performing team or independently.

The successful candidate would ideally possess the following experience and qualifications:

• Vet tech degree required.
• Familiarity with biosecurity protocols in the swine industry.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Attentiveness to detail.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest and concern for animals.
