Laser, Machine, & Fabrication Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC laser cutting machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and fiber laser cutting equipment.
• Support fabrication processes including sheet metal work, welding, pressing, and assembly tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure precise manufacturing.
• Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality inspection and dimensional verification.
• Learn to operate forklifts and cranes safely to move raw materials and finished products within the shop floor.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols at all times.

Requirements

• Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations involved in machining and fabrication tasks.
• Mechanical knowledge or interest in manufacturing processes is highly preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment is a plus.
• Willingness to learn CNC programming and operate CNC machinery under supervision.
• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery such as stamping presses, press brake machines, CNC machines, and forklifts.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality inspection using micrometers and other precision instruments.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
