Laser Nurse

1. REPORTS TO: Head Nurse

2. RESPONSIBLE FOR: Laser

3. JOB SUMMARY: Laser Nurse (or Laser Registered Nurse) operates, calibrates, and maintains medical laser equipment to perform cosmetic procedures like hair removal, skin rejuvenation, and vascular treatments. They assess patient skin, develop treatment plans, ensure safety protocols, and provide pre- and post-procedure

4. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Conducting pre-treatment consultations to determine candidacy, skin type, and medical history, and setting patient expectations for results.

B. Operating laser equipment according to established protocols including proper calibration, and ensuring the safety of the client and staff, often acting as a Laser Safety Officer.

C. Performing procedures like hair removal, monitoring patients for discomfort and managing potential reactions.

D. Providing post-treatment instructions, skincare advice, and scheduling follow-up sessions.

E. Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatments, and ensuring compliance with sanitation

F. Prepare treatment areas and operate laser equipment according to established protocols and safety guidelines. Monitor patients during treatments and address any concerns or discomforts

G. Collaboration with physicians, dermatologists, or other healthcare providers is common, especially when developing care plans or responding to any complications. This role requires a balance of technical proficiency and compassionate patient care.

5. EDUCATIONAL LICENSURE:

A. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

B. Training or certification in laser technology

6. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

At least 1 year of experience working as a laser Nurse

7 SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

A. Inspecting and troubleshooting machines. ...

B. Repairing faulty machines or equipment. ...

C. Writing safety procedures and maintenance plans. .

D. Referring tasks to specialist

8. PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED:

Must have integrity, initiative, evidence of good health and grooming, good moral character, and right conduct,

strong and pleasing personality.

9.HOURS/SHIFT WORK:

Staff may be available to work one or all shifts in department. Specific job assignments may require day, evening, weekend, or holiday hours.
