Job Summary:
The Laser Programmer will focus on developing, optimizing, and maintaining laser-based manufacturing processes including cutting, welding, drilling, engraving, and surface treatment. The Laser Programmer will play a critical role in improving production efficiency, product quality, and equipment reliability, while ensuring compliance with laser safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and maintain laser cutting programs using CAM software (TruTops and FastSuite) to support production operations. Responsibilities include creating efficient and accurate tool paths, nesting layouts, and cut sequences for a range of materials and part geometries.
- Develop, test, and optimize laser manufacturing processes (cutting, welding, marking, etc.) by establishing and refining parameters for various metals, alloys, and polymers to ensure quality, consistency, and throughput.
- Collaborate with process engineers, design engineers, and production teams to integrate laser systems into manufacturing workflows.
- Optimize process parameters (beam power, speed, focus, assist gases, etc.) to meet quality, efficiency, and cost objectives.
- Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concept trials for new products and materials.
- Troubleshoot laser equipment and processes to minimize downtime and ensure stable, repeatable performance.
- Work with equipment vendors and suppliers to evaluate and install new laser systems.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials for operators and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with ANSI Z136 laser safety standards and company EHS policies.
- Provide technical support for maintenance, calibration, and upgrades of laser systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and yield improvement.

3 year(s): Minimum three (3) years of experience with industrial laser processing (cutting, welding, marking, drilling, or additive manufacturing). A combination of educational and direct work experience may be considered.
