Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue is Hiring Lateral Firefighter EMT and Firefighter Paramedics! You must already be certified. Anticipated start July 1, 2026. Open Until Filled: Priority Review 5/1/2026

The ideal candidates will be self motivated, able to troubleshoot problems and remain focused in critical situations. Above all else, you should be passionate about fire and rescue, understand the roles of policies and procedures as they relate to safety, have the desire to have an impact in your community and be willing to take risks to make our organization stronger.
  • You will work with a well trained team and report to a Company Officer who will provide initial mentoring during your shift and will guide your daily work.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • IFSAC Academy Graduation, Firefighter I and II or equivalent, and Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Valid WA State EMT certification (or ability to acquire by date of hire)
  • Background, physical and psychological clearance prior to start date
  • Valid WA State Drivers License (Candidates based outside of WA state must have the ability to acquire this by date of hire.)
  • Firefighter Paramedic candidates must also possess valid National Registry or WA state paramedic certification (with the ability to obtain WA state certification by date of hire)
  • 3+ years of career experience preferred, current full time paid experience required


CKFR is taking emergency response to the next level. This position performs multiple tasks in potentially dangerous environments and is the first line emergency responder to fire and medical emergencies. You'll prevent, combat and extinguish fires and provide emergency rescue services. You'll also:

  • Examine, treat and transport injured patients. As a paramedic, you'll serve as the first line of advanced life support.
  • Provide on scene/incident patient care and direct the work of EMTs and other staff to assist with this care.
  • Conduct rescues and extrications.
  • Participate in District and community events.
  • Participate in regular trainings, drills and safety courses.
  • Drive apparatus, operate pumps, ventilate roofs, assist with salvage and overhaul operations.
  • Operate a variety of portable power and hand equipment tools, laying hose, connecting lines and nozzles.
