The Lathe and Milling Machine Operator will be responsible for operating lathe and milling machines to manufacture precision metal parts according to specifications. The role requires reading technical drawings, setting up machines, and ensuring products meet quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain lathe and milling machines according to work orders and technical drawings.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
- Perform quality inspections using measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Maintain machines by cleaning, lubricating, and performing routine maintenance checks.
- Identify and troubleshoot machine or process issues promptly.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet production schedules and targets.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Lathe and Milling Machine Operator or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Proficient in using measuring instruments for precision work.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a workshop environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to operate heavy machinery.
- Technical diploma or certification in machining/manufacturing is preferred but not mandatory.
