Laundry Washer / Pressman

Sort and separate soiled laundry items, such as bed linens, towels, patient gowns, and staff uniforms, based on fabric type, color, and washing instructions.

Operate commercial washing machines and dryers to clean, dry laundry and press items according to established procedures and guidelines. Use appropriate detergents, bleach, and fabric softeners as required.

Identify and pre-treat stains on fabrics before washing, utilizing appropriate stain removal techniques and products to ensure the best possible results.

Inspect laundered items for cleanliness, stains, damage, and proper folding to ensure high-quality standards are met. Replace damaged or worn-out items as needed.

Maintain an organized inventory of clean and folded laundry items. Monitor stock levels, replenish supplies as necessary, and report any shortages or discrepancies to the supervisor.

Adhere to strict infection control protocols and guidelines to prevent the spread of infections. Handle soiled laundry with appropriate precautions, such as wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper hand hygiene.

Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks on laundry equipment, such as cleaning lint filters, emptying dryer lint traps, and reporting any malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team.

Coordinate and communicate effectively with other members of the team, including supervisors, housekeeping staff, and linen runners, to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of clean laundry.

Follow all safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of chemicals, safe operation of equipment, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
