About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Law & Motion Attorney to join our team and support our litigation practice, with a strong focus on drafting high-quality motions—mostly fee motions and discovery-related motions. This position requires excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities, as well as familiarity with California civil procedure. Applicants must be licensed and in good standing with the California Bar.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, research, and prepare a wide range of motions, including:
- Motions for attorneys’ fees
- Motions to compel discovery / motions for protective orders
- Oppositions and replies to discovery and fee motions
- Other law & motion work as needed
- Analyze case files, evidence, and discovery responses to support motion drafting
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw/Lexis and stay current on relevant California law
- Work closely with litigation attorneys to develop strategy and strengthen written advocacy
- Ensure filings comply with California Rules of Court, local rules, and applicable deadlines
- Assist with hearing preparation and drafting of proposed orders
Qualifications
- Active California Bar license in good standing — REQUIRED
- 1–5+ years of law & motion, litigation, or appellate experience (lemon law or consumer law is a plus but not required)
- Strong legal writing and research skills with attention to detail
- Familiarity with California Code of Civil Procedure, Evidence Code, and discovery rules
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines efficiently
- Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)

- Prior experience drafting fee motions or handling discovery disputes
- Ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, persuasive writing

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
