Job Overview
J-1 Excavating is looking to hire a motivated self-starter who can operate independently with minimal oversight. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundskeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for daily operations and maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the Fargo National Cemetery. This role requires a strong understanding of landscape maintenance, including the use of power and hand tools, lawn care techniques, and irrigation systems. The Groundskeeper will play a vital role in ensuring that the cemetery is well-kept and inviting.

Duties

• Perform regular landscape maintenance tasks including installing sod, seeding, mowing, trimming, and edging lawns.
• Utilize power tools and hand tools effectively for various tasks.
• Daily record keeping.
• Coordination with representatives from Veterans Administration.
• Prep/layout and install headstones
• Assist with grave excavation.
• Maintain, set-up and utilize burial devices.
• Provide assistance for cemetery burial operations.
• Irrigate landscapes as needed to promote healthy growth.
• Monitor the condition of the grounds and report any issues or necessary repairs.
• Assist in planting and maintaining grass and sod according to seasonal requirements.
• Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and stored.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred.
• Familiarity with power tools such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Experience operating equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of lawn care practices including fertilization, aeration, and pest control is advantageous.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality work.
• Good physical stamina; ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor for extended periods.
• A valid driver’s license required.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
