GENERAL SUMMARY
The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) works within a multidisciplinary team to provide direct (face-to-face) and indirect services to consumers in a person-centered, trauma-informed, and individualized approach utilizing evidence-based practices delivered to fidelity. The LCDC completes collaborative documentation with the client in accordance with State and agency program policies. Individuals served may have multi-system involvement such as Criminal Justice, Child, and Adult Welfare, Veterans, Residential instability, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops treatment plans, including measurable goals and objectives, and complete review for progress.
  • Facilitates psycho-education classes, group therapy, support groups, and individual counseling.
  • Inputs clinical documentation into Clinical Management for Behavioral Health Services (CMBHS) in a timely manner for all services rendered with or on behalf of clients.
  • Links and refers to consumers' prese and assessments, and explores diagnoses with the course of treatment.
  • Screens for substance abuse, including physical and mental health status.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Specific Program Descriptions:
During the initial assessment, the candidate will review the Client Handbook with the client for an understanding of program expectations and requirements. The assessor will utilize the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder (DSM) to diagnose substance use disorders and complete other clinical assessment tools as required. The assessor will input clinical documentation into Clinical Management for Behavioral Health Services (CMBHS) in accordance with agency policy. The candidate will link the consumer to internal and external services/resources, and assist with crisis intervention/resolution when needed. Services will be provided in a clinical setting.

Semper Healthcare Services (SHS) - (SHS) is a medication-assisted treatment program (MAT) for clients dealing with Opioid use disorder. The program offers adult clients treatment with either methadone or Suboxone and all clients receive both medication and counseling services as part of their treatment. SHS works as a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centered care to our clients, assisting them on their recovery journey. The candidate in this position will provide direct client services to adults for linkage to the SHS via intake and evaluation assessment for program eligibility. During the initial assessment, the candidate will review program expectations and requirements. The candidate will link the consumer to internal and external services/resources and assist with crisis intervention/resolution when needed. The candidate in this position may assist with walk-in clients when intake assessments are not scheduled. Services will be provided in a clinical setting.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or a related field and
  • One (1) year of experience working with consumers diagnosed with substance abuse, mental health, or dual diagnosis
  • A current Texas licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in good standing can be utilized in lieu of the Associate's Degree requirement.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in good standing

Other Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business
  • Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping, and getting on and off the floor without assistance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a behavioral science
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time work experience in social services or substance abuse services
  • Professional experience working with consumers diagnosed with substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders

SUPERVISION

  • Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  • Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs, and torso in various care.
