Job Title: Lead AV Installation Tech

We are currently seeking an experienced Lead AV Installation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of AV installation and integration experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to guide technicians through complex residential technology projects. This role is hands‑on, client‑facing, and essential to ensuring our installations meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Teach, mentor, and guide field technicians and junior technicians through installation and commissioning of AV and home integration systems.
  • Serve as the on‑site subject matter expert for all AV‑related tasks.

Technical Installation & Integration

  • Lead installations for AV control systems including wire ring‑out, system commissioning, and device configuration.
  • Perform wire management, trimming, labeling, and termination (RG6, Fiber, Cat6/Cat6A, RJ‑45 compression, soldering, etc.).
  • Install lighting keypads, touch panels, and other control interfaces.
  • Program URC remotes and assist with basic control system configuration.
  • Install TV brackets, lifts, and mechanical display support devices.
  • Physically install racks, TVs, speakers, projectors, video walls, and other AV equipment.

Project Coordination & Documentation

  • Document status reports, procedures, and project updates within company project‑management software.
  • Provide daily updates to the project team through the applicable platform.
  • Review and complete daily punch‑list items in alignment with project timelines.
  • Collaborate with project team members to set up and test AV signal flows, equipment functionality, and system programming.
  • Communicate proactively with project managers and stakeholders regarding construction constraints, design changes, or installation challenges.
  • Professionally interact with general contractors, architects, client representatives, and end‑users.

Troubleshooting & Client Support

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and system testing during installation phases.
  • Document and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Load programming and provide client training at project completion.
  • Provide occasional after‑hours or weekend service support when required.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Expert understanding of:
  • Audio & video distribution (HDMI, IP‑based AV, matrixing concepts)
  • IR, RS‑232, and network‑based control protocols
  • Networking fundamentals including VPNs and port forwarding
  • Savant, Josh.ai, and/or Control4 ecosystems
  • Lutron lighting and shading systems
  • HVAC and thermostat integration
  • Comfortable working with VIP clientele in fast‑paced environments.
  • Familiarity with product lines including Savant, Josh.ai, Control4, Sonos, Lutron, SnapOne, Access Networks, Sonance, Future Automation, and Coastal Source.
  • Working knowledge of Savant programming software, Control4 Composer, and related tools.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to lift, move, and push up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands/fingers for extended periods.
  • OSHA 40 and applicable SST certifications required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
