Lead Barista (Full Time)

Chew Chew Bun is seeking a Lead Barista to take ownership of the bar and front-of-house. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being behind the bar, takes pride in their work, and cares about the details that shape a great café experience.

We care deeply about quality and hospitality. This role is best suited for someone who takes their craft seriously and is confident operating the bar and front-of-house independently while maintaining a high standard.

We view the bar as a craft. The right person for this role will have the opportunity to develop real barista skills, service discipline, and operational ownership behind the counter.

You will play an important role in maintaining the rhythm of the café during service, keeping the bar organized, drinks consistent, and the environment welcoming for our guests.

At times, you may be operating the café independently during a shift, which requires confidence, efficiency, and the ability to stay organized while managing both drink production and guest flow.

This role is for someone who enjoys responsibility and takes pride in doing things well.

Role Responsibilities

The Lead Barista helps maintain the café's overall rhythm and standards during service. This role focuses on keeping the bar running smoothly, maintaining drink quality, and ensuring guests have a positive experience in the space.

Responsibilities broadly include:

  • Overseeing bar operations and drink preparation during shifts
  • Supporting a smooth and organized front-of-house service flow
  • Maintaining quality, cleanliness, and professionalism behind the bar
  • Taking ownership of the café environment during service
  • Helping maintain the standards guests expect from Chew Chew Bun

This role requires someone who is comfortable working independently and can keep the café running smoothly, even during demanding service periods.

Position Details

Schedule

  • Full time
  • 5 work days / 2 days off
  • 32–36 hours per week
  • Some weekend availability required.

  • Starting at $15 per hour + tips

Qualifications

  • Proven barista experience with a strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and beverage consistancy.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a café setting preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle diverse guest needs professionally
  • SerSafe Food Manager Certificate
  • Effective time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of food industry regulations related to food preparation and safety standards
