Lead Bartender

Job Overview
We are a free spirited bar with simple but good good, a lot of character and a diverse socio-economic, multi cultural, customer base - in other words: A Dive Bar. :). We have had incrementally grown over the last 8 years and always been profitable, that compound incremental improvement has resulted in sales that have doubled, and that has happened without really trying. We have been fortunate and see ourselves well postured in the market to have our best year ever in 2026 and are making plans expand. This role we see as essential to our plans. We are looking for a professional, not a rockstar who bartends until they get the music contract - a person who is ambitious within this industry.

Responsibilities

• Model a standard of values and leadership for others to follow with respect to timelines, attention to detail, motivating a team, dress, and personal presentation.
• Lead by example in engaging guests with enthusiasm and professionalism.
• Manage bar operations effectively including consistent drink preparation, pours and delivery.
• Supervise and mentor junior bartenders and bar staff.
• Curate, print and train staff on a cocktail menu, appropriate for our bar.
• Coordinate with small staff regarding schedules and time off.
• Create a fun atmosphere, managing security risks prior to drama.
• Manage COGS for liquor / beer
• Order Beer/Liquor beverages.
• Training new team members
• Grow sales through "four wall" marketing. (Which will also be supported by outside marketing
• Knowledge of sports would be helpful. We have a sports focus.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing a bar beverage program and hitting target COGS percentages
• Proven ability to manage hourly staff and labor cost
• Innovation and knowledge of cocktails, glassware, garnish and how to create interest.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with previous supervisory or leadership roles
• Proficiency with cashiering and cash handling is essential.
• Ability to attend to and communicate with a diverse population tactfully and directly but with humor.
• Demonstrated ability to manage others and maintain cleanliness, prep and side work throughout the bar

• Exceptional record of attendance in all prior roles.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, and switch shifts as needed.

This "Lead Bartender" role is our introduction and entry into management of the entire bar as we seek to develop a leader for the expansion.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
