Lead CAD Designer & Project Manager – Yacht Carpentry

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead CAD Designer & Project Manager to join our team. This is a leadership role combining advanced CAD drafting expertise with full project management responsibility, from client coordination and design development to fabrication oversight and final delivery.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in yacht or marine carpentry environments and understands the precision, craftsmanship, and coordination required in high-end custom projects. This individual will work under the supervision of the General Manager and will coordinate carpenters to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Bonatto Woodworks is a yacht carpentry company serving the South Florida region. We specialize in high-end, custom woodwork. Our team takes pride in craftsmanship, professionalism, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed CAD drawings for custom yacht cabinetry and interiors
  • Create drawings, fabrication drawings, and material specifications
  • Revise drawings based on field measurements and client feedback
  • Ensure accuracy for production and installation
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and material procurement
  • Coordinate shop and field teams throughout fabrication and installation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, captains, and shipyards
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues
  • Ensure projects meet quality standards and deadlines
  • Coordinate carpenters, installers, and subcontractors
  • Assist in scheduling labor and production flow
  • Maintain clear communication between management and carpenters
  • Support continuous improvement in workflow and efficiency
  • Other related responsibilities

Qualifications and Requirements

Required:

  • Minimum 5+ years of CAD drafting experience
  • Strong technical skills, with proficiency in Autodesk Inventor
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or millwork environment
  • Formal drafting education or equivalent professional experience
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Willingness to learn and operate CNC machinery

Preferred:

  • Experience in yacht carpentry or high-end custom woodworking
  • Proven project management experience (budgeting, scheduling, coordination)
