Role Overview

At Demos Project, we are seeking a Tamil Content Lead who will own and drive the overall narrative direction, content strategy, and execution for political campaigns.

This role demands deep political understanding of Tamil Nadu, exceptional command over Tamil language, and the ability to lead a team of writers and content creators while translating research-backed insights into compelling, high-impact narratives.

The Content Lead will work closely with Research, Strategy, Media, and Campaign Leadership teams to shape public communication, oversee daily response content, and ensure narrative consistency across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy, Creation & Narrative Leadership

● Own the end-to-end Tamil content strategy aligned with campaign goals and political positioning.
● Translate research insights, issue analyses, and data-backed briefs into strong, persuasive Tamil narratives.
● Guide and review content for social media, print, digital, speeches, and campaign communication.
● Lead the development of proactive narratives, counter-narratives, and messaging frameworks on emerging political issues.
● Ensure content is adaptable for quick digital turnarounds and high-pressure campaign cycles.

Team Leadership & Coordination

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Tamil content writers and freelancers.
● Allocate tasks, review outputs, and ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
● Coordinate closely with Research, Data, Media Monitoring, and Design teams for narrative alignment.
● Act as the primary content point-of-contact during daily war-room or response meetings.

Language, Tone & Quality Control

● Ensure high standards of linguistic accuracy, clarity, and originality in all Tamil content.
● Maintain tone consistency across campaign materials—reels, posters, press notes, speeches, and social media.
● Review translations and back-translations for contextual, cultural, and political accuracy.
● Set and enforce editorial standards for Tamil political communication.

Campaign Communication & Strategic Support

● Oversee drafting of speeches, leader notes, press communication, and event-based messaging.
● Contribute actively to narrative brainstorming, campaign framing, and message testing.
● Maintain and evolve a structured repository of Tamil communication assets for long-term campaign use.
● Provide strategic content inputs during key campaign moments, crises, or rapid-response situations.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Education

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tamil Literature, Journalism, Mass Communication, Political Science, or related fields.

Experience

● 4–10 years of experience in political communication, content leadership, or narrative strategy.
● Proven experience leading content teams in high-pressure or campaign-driven environments.
● Strong exposure to Tamil Nadu’s political landscape and public discourse.

Skills

● Exceptional command over written Tamil—grammar, idiomatic expression, and regional nuance.
● Strong political awareness and ability to interpret current events strategically.
● Leadership skills with the ability to guide teams under tight deadlines.
● Excellent coordination and communication skills across multiple stakeholders.
● Familiarity with digital coordination tools (Google Docs, Sheets, WhatsApp, CMS).

Bonus

● Experience in speechwriting or long-form political narratives.
● Scriptwriting or copywriting experience for digital and campaign videos.
● Working understanding of English to interpret bilingual research and strategic inputs.

Work Expectations

● Ability to lead quick-response content operations under pressure.
● Willingness to work extended hours and weekends during campaign phases.
● High levels of confidentiality, political sensitivity, and strategic alignment.
● Strong ownership mindset and accountability for narrative outcomes.
