As a Lead Caregiver, you will provide direct resident care while also helping support daily caregiving operations on the shift. This role serves as a lead presence on the floor by modeling quality care, assisting with team communication, helping orient and support new caregivers, and partnering with nursing and leadership to promote excellent resident service, safety, and consistency in care.
Serve as a lead team member on the shift by supporting caregivers, answering questions, and helping ensure resident care tasks are completed timely and accurately.
Help guide daily workflow and assignments to support smooth shift operations and quality resident care.
Partner with nursing staff and supervisors to communicate changes in resident condition, care concerns, incidents, and follow-up needs.
Assist with onboarding and training new caregivers by demonstrating proper care techniques, documentation standards, and service expectations.
Monitor the care environment for safety, cleanliness, and resident comfort, and help address concerns in a timely manner.
Model professionalism, compassion, accountability, and teamwork in all resident and team interactions.
Support call-offs, shift transitions, and coverage needs as directed by leadership.
Reinforce community policies, infection control practices, and resident care procedures.
Assist in ensuring documentation, shift communication, and resident updates are completed thoroughly and accurately.
Ability to regularly walk, stand, bend, stoop, or sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or assist with moving objects or individuals weighing over 50 lbs.
Ability to maintain focus on safety, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout the shift.
Annual flu vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions considered).
Prior caregiver experience in assisted living, memory care, or senior living required.
Previous lead, mentor, preceptor, or shift support experience preferred.
Ability to support, guide, and motivate team members in a positive and professional manner.
Strong judgment, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm, focused, and service-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
CNA certification preferred or required, depending on state and community requirements.
