Lead Carpenter

JPS Construction and Design is looking for a lead carpenter with experience in residential construction and renovation to work on jobs throughout RI.

We are looking for Carpenters with residential construction experience to help with rough carpentry, and detailed finish work to ensure structures are weathertight and completed to high-quality standards and comply with building codes. Work is performed under the supervision of the project manager and includes both interior and exterior construction tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demolition & Protection: Move furniture, protect surfaces, and demolish structures as directed.
• Rough Carpentry: Frame floors, walls, decks, and roofs; install windows, doors, siding, roofing, and decking with proper weather protection. Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors. Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
• Finish Carpentry: Install interior/exterior trim, stairs, cabinetry, built-ins, and hardware with precision.
• General Duties: Generate daily material lists, maintain trailer organization, ensure building code compliance, and follow safety procedures.

Education and Experience:

• Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required.

Skills:

• Ability to understand directions and read/interpreting construction documents and specifications..
• Strong knowledge of carpentry principles and building materials. Proficiency with construction methods, building codes, carpentry, and hand/power tools.
• Basic math, problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.
• Comfortable using a smartphone and email.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
