Lead Case Manager

The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. RMA partners with local churches to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve. The Lighthouse for Women & Children provides a complete continuum of care specifically tailored to the needs of homeless women and women with children by offering shelter, intervention, substance abuse recovery, case management, education, life skills development, vocational training, employment, and transitional housing.


Summary

The Lead Case Manager is a vital role within our faith-based recovery program, providing comprehensive support and guidance to woman and men overcoming addictions, homelessness, domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual traumas, and life traumas. This position involves leading a personal caseload of 6 to 8 residents through the entirety of our Program. The Lead Case Manager entails a coaching/training role to all ministry sites Case Managers staff by traveling to each ministry site at the minimum of 1x a month to ensure best therapeutic practices and trauma informed care. The Lead Case Manager will work closely with residents to facilitate their development vocational training, life skills, relationship reconciliation, and spiritual growth, preparing them for a successful return to independent living with a strong, healthy community, job skills, financial stability, employment, and housing. This is a full-time non-exempt position in Oxnard, CA. reporting to the Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively oversee a caseload of residents 6-8 in the Lighthouse Program by providing comprehensive case management and support across all program stages until exit from the program.
  • Coach and train all case managers at all ministry sites by meeting with them at least once a month.
  • Lead residents through all phases of the Program, ensuring a thorough understanding and application of its principles.
  • Develop and implement individualized recovery plans in collaboration with residents, addressing their specific needs and goals.
  • Direct and assist residents in their physical and mental health.
  • Monitor resident progress, providing ongoing support, encouragement, and accountability.
  • Facilitate Process Group sessions on phase milestones and recovery topics such as life skills, anger management, and conflict resolution.
  • Connect residents with appropriate resources and services, including vocational training, educational opportunities, employment assistance, housing options, and community support groups.
  • Assist residents in developing essential life skills, such as budgeting, time management, and communication.
  • Support residents in their efforts to reconcile with family members and build healthy relationships.
  • Provide spiritual guidance and support, fostering clients' spiritual growth and connection with the Christian faith.
  • Document resident progress accurately and maintain confidential records.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Uphold the mission, values, and policies of Rescue Mission Alliance Lighthouse for Women and Children.
  • Hold residents to the RMA Way Corrective Action Plan, informing the Director as necessary.


Qualifications

  • Strong and active Christian faith, with a commitment to sharing the Gospel and supporting clients' spiritual development.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management, social work, or a related field, preferably in a residential recovery setting.
  • Knowledge of addiction, homelessness, domestic violence, human trafficking, and related issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Empathetic and compassionate nature, with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Goal-oriented and results-driven, with a focus on empowering clients to achieve their full potential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and client database systems.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability.
  • Master’s degree in therapy, social work or similar field.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with woman and children experiencing, domestic violence, human trafficking.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is not necessary, but preferred.

  • Must be proficient in Windows; Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • MissionTracker client tracking system

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.

Equipment

  • Basic office equipment, such as computers, copiers, and printers.

Work Environment

Although this position functions to a large degree in an office/residential environment, this position will be in facilities and visiting sites with an at-risk population where errant behavior and risk of infectious disease may be present, as well as commercial settings where medium duty equipment may be in use, such as forklifts and bailers. Appropriate safety considerations will be required to avoid illness or injury.
