Job Title: Head of Civil Engineering (Plotting & Infrastructure)

Department: Projects & Development Location: [Chennai & Chengalpattu] Reports To: Director / COO

Job Summary

The Head of Civil Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle for all residential plotting developments. This includes due diligence, master planning, on-site infrastructure execution (roads, water, sewage, power), quality control, and securing necessary statutory approvals to ensure plots are ready for hassle-free customer registration and handover.

Key Responsibilities

A. Pre-Development & Statutory Compliance

  • Technical Due Diligence: Conduct detailed site surveys, soil testing analysis, and topography mapping for new land parcels to confirm feasibility for plotting.
  • Master Planning Review: Collaborate closely with architects and urban planners to finalize plot layouts, ensuring maximum saleable area while strictly adhering to setback rules, common area regulations, and development control norms.

B. Project Execution & Infrastructure

  • Infrastructure Design: Design, review, and finalize plans for essential on-site infrastructure, including:
  • Roads: Layout and quality specification for black-top/concrete roads within the layout.
  • Water Supply: Design of overhead tanks, borewells, and distribution networks.
  • Drainage/Sewage: Implementation of stormwater drainage and proper sewage systems.
  • Power: Coordination for electrical distribution lines, street lighting, and transformer placement.
  • Tender & Vendor Management: Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BoQ), manage the tendering process, evaluate bids, and select reliable contractors and material suppliers.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Manage the overall civil project budget, monitor expenditure against planned milestones, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

C. Quality Assurance & Project Closure

  • Quality Control (QC): Ensure all civil works meet high quality standards and are executed according to approved designs, specifications, and safety protocols.
  • Site Supervision: Regularly inspect and supervise all active sites, managing Project Managers and site teams to ensure timely completion of milestones.
  • Handover Documentation: Prepare comprehensive completion reports and handover documentation required for final statutory approvals and customer conveyance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech). A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum [12-15] years of experience in Civil Engineering, with at least [5-7] years in a senior leadership role, focusing specifically on plotting, land development, and horizontal construction (roads, water/sewer networks).
  • Statutory Knowledge: Deep and current knowledge of local building codes, planning regulations (e.g., DTCP/CMDA/Local Body norms), and documentation requirements for plot registration.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in project planning tools, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and MS Project.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of managing large site teams, motivating engineers, and successfully handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹130,000.00 per month
