Lead Dental Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our private solo dentist general practice. Our office provides a wide range of services including general dentistry, implants, Invisalign, endodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

This leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, teamwork, efficiency, and exceptional patient care. The Lead Dental Assistant will oversee clinical flow, support the doctor during advanced procedures, help train and guide team members, and ensure the highest standards of sterilization, efficiency, and patient experience are maintained throughout the office.

Office Hours

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday: 11a-7p
  • Wednesday: 7:45a-5p
  • Thursday: 7:45a-5p
  • Friday: 7:45a-3p

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily clinical operations to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient scheduling.
  • Provide chairside assisting for a variety of procedures including restorative dentistry, crown and bridge, implants, Invisalign, endodontics, oral surgery, and extractions.
  • Assist the doctor during advanced procedures and anticipate clinical needs efficiently.
  • Prepare and break down treatment rooms while maintaining exceptional infection control and sterilization standards.
  • Take digital X-rays, CBCT scans, impressions, scans, and clinical photographs.
  • Ensure all operatories are fully stocked and organized daily.
  • Monitor and maintain sterilization protocols according to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • Support and mentor dental assistants and clinical team members.
  • Assist with training new employees on office systems, clinical protocols, and workflow expectations.
  • Accurately chart treatment notes and update patient records using.
  • Educate patients regarding treatment, post-operative instructions, and home care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to provide a comfortable and welcoming experience.
  • Assist with ordering clinical supplies and maintaining inventory levels.
  • Help maintain and troubleshoot clinical equipment including scanners, handpieces, and imaging systems.
  • Work closely with the front office and doctor to support an exceptional patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of dental assisting experience required.
  • Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA/EDDA) certification required.
  • Experience with implants, oral surgery, Invisalign, endodontics, and full-mouth restorative cases strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with digital X-rays, intraoral scanners.
  • Strong understanding of infection control and sterilization procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Dependable, positive attitude, team-oriented, and patient-focused.
  • CPR certification required.
