Lead Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily clinical operations, support dental procedures, and ensure exceptional patient care. As a leader in our practice, you will coordinate with the dental team to deliver efficient, high-quality services while maintaining strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols. Your expertise will help foster a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and confident in their dental experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor dental assisting staff, ensuring best practices in chairside assisting and patient care.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and equipment for various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Assist dentists during procedures such as X-ray imaging, medical imaging, and complex restorative treatments using advanced tools like 3D scanners.
  • Manage electronic health records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security.
  • Take vital signs and perform initial patient assessments to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments and equipment.
  • Support administrative tasks including dental reception duties, scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records accurately.
  • Ensure proper use of dental terminology and medical coding for documentation purposes.
  • Coordinate with the dental team to implement four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient patient flow.
  • Assist with medical documentation related to pediatrics or other specialized fields as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic is a plus.
  • Familiarity with X-ray procedures, medical imaging, and 3D scanner technology.
  • Ability to perform vital signs measurement and basic medical assessments in pediatric or adult patients.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills suitable for working closely with dentists, hygienists, patients, and administrative staff.
  • Certification in Dental Assisting is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics are advantageous. Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
