Lead Dental Lab Technician & Lab Manager — In-House Digital/Analog Lab
About This Role
If you've ever owned or managed a mid-size dental lab — and you know both digital and analog inside and out — this role was built for you.
MUST know BOTH digital dentistry Exocad Design AND analog inside and out.
This isn't a bench tech position where you're taking orders from a lab manager. You are the lab. We're looking for one skilled, experienced dental lab technician who can run our entire in-house lab operation across two South Florida locations — and build a small team around you to scale it.
Next Dental Group is a multi-location dental practice with a commercial-grade digital lab built into the office. We do same-day dentistry — crowns, dentures, implant prosthetics, All-on-X — and we need a lead tech who can own that workflow from scan to seat. You'll have your own budget, your own team, and the autonomy to run the lab like your own operation inside ours.
What You'll Be Doing
- Running the full lab operation across two locations (North Miami Beach and Lauderhill) as a single, unified dental lab.
- Digital design for the full scope: crowns, bridges, dentures, partials, implant-supported prosthetics, and All-on-X cases using CAD/CAM software (Exocad/3Shape).
- Operating and managing milling machines, 3D printers, and sintering equipment for on-site production.
- Staining, glazing, and finishing crowns, bridges, and All-on-X cases to clinical standard.
- Performing analog lab work as needed — wax-ups, denture setups, finishing, and characterization. This is a hybrid role, not digital-only.
- Building and managing your own small team of lab assistants. You'll hire them, train them, schedule them, and deploy them across locations as needed.
- Controlling a lab budget — ordering materials, managing supply inventory, and keeping costs efficient.
- Coordinating with the clinical team to ensure same-day cases are designed, milled, and ready for delivery on schedule.
- Quality control on every case leaving the lab. Your name is on it.
What We Need From You
- Digital design proficiency. You must be able to digitally design crowns, bridges, dentures, All-on-X prosthetics, and implant abutments. This is non-negotiable.
- CAD/CAM experience. Exocad, 3Shape, or equivalent. You should be comfortable designing and sending cases to mill or print without hand-holding.
- Milling and printing knowledge. You'll be running the machines — zirconia milling, PMMA milling, 3D printing for models, surgical guides, and denture bases, and maintenance.
- Analog skills. Denture setups, wax-ups, finishing, characterization. Digital-first doesn't mean analog-never.
- Management ability. You're going to be hiring, training, and scheduling your own lab techs and assistants. You need to be organized, accountable, and capable of running a small team.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on dental lab experience. In-house or commercial lab. CDT preferred but not required if the skills are there.
What We Offer
- Autonomy. You run the lab. You manage the budget, the team, and the workflow. This is a leadership role, not a production line.
- Commercial-grade equipment. Our lab is equipped with milling machines, 3D printers, sintering ovens, and CAD/CAM stations. You're not working out of a closet.
- Same-day dentistry environment. You'll see your work go from design to patient in the same day. No shipping cases out and waiting a week.
- Competitive compensation. Base salary $100K depending on experience, plus up to $20k performance incentives tied to lab output and efficiency. This is a senior-level role compensated like one.
- Growth opportunity. We're scaling. If you help us grow lab output, you grow with us — in responsibility, in team size, and in earnings.
- A team you build yourself. You'll have hiring authority for lab techs and assistants, and the budget to staff the operation properly.
