Lead Design Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, supervise, and mentor the design/technical team, ensuring high-quality output.
• Allocate tasks, review drawings, and ensure timely delivery of all design submissions.
• Provide technical guidance and resolve complex design issues for junior engineers and draftsmen.

2. Design Oversight & Quality Control

• Oversee preparation of shop drawings, joinery details, 3D concepts, and coordination layouts.
• Ensure all drawings meet project specifications, consultant standards, and industry best practices.
• Review and approve material samples, mock-ups, and technical submittals.

3. Project Coordination & Client Interaction

• Attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings as the technical/design lead.
• Coordinate with project managers, procurement, QS, and site teams to ensure smooth execution.
• Address design-related RFIs, site issues, and provide timely solutions.

4. Technical Compliance & Innovation

• Ensure all designs comply with authority regulations (Dubai Municipality, DDA, Civil Defense, etc.).
• Develop innovative design solutions to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and constructability.
• Conduct design risk assessments and ensure designs support safe execution on site.

5. Documentation & Approvals

• Oversee preparation of BOQs, material schedules, cutting lists, and technical documentation.
• Review and finalize all submissions before sending to client/consultant for approval.
• Track drawing status, revisions, and approval cycles systematically.

6. Site Support & Coordination

• Conduct site visits to verify dimensions, identify design constraints, and ensure implementation accuracy.
• Guide the site team during installation, addressing buildability and coordination challenges.
• Approve as-built drawings before final submission.

7. Strategic & Organizational Contributions

• Contribute to design standards, internal processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the business development team with technical inputs for tenders and proposals.
• Ensure consistent brand and technical quality across all deliverables.
