The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Lead Developer to join our team and take technical ownership of public utility websites serving millions of Pennsylvania residents. You'll architect and develop sophisticated web applications using Umbraco CMS and Microsoft ASP.NET while leading technical strategy for high-impact government projects. Contract : Full-time - 12 months, extendible (W2 only)

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement technical enhancements for two instances of enterprise-level Umbraco CMS platform.
  • Develop and maintain complex ASP.NET web applications with real-time data integration
  • Manage SQL Server databases and optimize performance for high-traffic applications
  • Implement robust security protocols and ensure compliance with government standards
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs connecting supplier data management systems
  • Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with minimal disruption to services

What You'll Bring

  • 6+ years of full-stack web development experience
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft ASP.NET framework and C#
  • Proven experience with Umbraco CMS development and customization
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server database design and optimization
  • Experience with API development and third-party integrations
  • Knowledge of modern JavaScript libraries (jQuery, Chart.js) and frontend frameworks
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting (Azure preferred), CDN configuration (Cloudflare), and deployment pipelines
  • Understanding of web security best practices, SSL/TLS, and OWASP principles
  • Experience with version control (Git) and agile development methodologies
  • up to 25% travel, based on company and client needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate
  • Umbraco Certified Developer
  • Experience with government or utility sector projects
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and SendGrid
  • Background in supplier/vendor management systems or e-commerce platforms
