We are seeking a FAA Part 107 Certified Drone Pilot Instructor to lead a workforce development training program for NYC youth (ages 16–24). This role is part of a larger Green STEAM Workforce Initiative preparing participants for careers in drone technology, aviation, and inspection industries.
Responsibilities
- Teach FAA Part 107 topics:
- Airspace & regulations
- Weather & flight performance
- Safety & risk management
- Mission planning
- Lead hybrid instruction (virtual + in-person flight labs)
- ntroduce drone simulation training environments
- Supervise hands-on drone training using DJI platforms
- Prepare students for FAA Part 107 exam
- Provide real-world industry context (inspection, media, etc.)
- Record pre-training lessons (optional paid hours)
- Provide 1-hour weekly student support / “office hours”

- Uncrashed Drone Simulator
- Robotics systems (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, CoDrone EDU, etc.)
- Engineering concepts related to UAV systems
- STEM or STEAM education environments
Qualifications
- FAA Part 107 Certification (Required)
- 2+ years of drone flight experience
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or training (preferred)
- Strong communication and youth engagement skills
Pay: From $50.00 per hour
