Position Overview
The Lead Golf Course Irrigation Technician will oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems on golf course construction and renovation projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage crews in a fast-paced field environment.
You will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise irrigation crews (2–6 team members)
- Install golf course irrigation systems (mainline, lateral lines, heads, valves, controllers)
- Read and interpret irrigation plans, blueprints, and GPS layouts
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and construction teams
- Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems
- Ensure proper system pressure, coverage, and efficiency
- Manage daily job site operations and crew productivity
- Maintain safety standards and job site compliance
- Track materials, equipment, and labor hours
- Assist with project scheduling and sequencing
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience in irrigation or golf course construction
- 3–5+ years of irrigation installation experience (golf course experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, piping, valves, and controllers
- Ability to read plans and layout systems accurately
- Experience operating equipment (trencher, excavator, skid steer) is a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Willingness to travel for projects
Preferred Experience
- Golf course irrigation installation (new construction or renovation)
- Experience with Toro, Rain Bird, or Hunter systems
- GPS layout and laser grading familiarity
- Understanding of pump stations and central control systems
- Ability to speak Spanish
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
