About High Cotton Homes

High Cotton Homes is a design-build custom home building company specializing in detail-driven, high-quality residential construction. We are seeking a full-time Interior Designer to join our team and lead clients confidently through the selections and design phase of their custom homes.

This is a fast-paced, high-expectation environment. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting strict deadlines.

This role requires both aesthetic vision and construction knowledge. The ideal candidate understands how design decisions translate into field execution and can guide clients clearly while collaborating closely with project managers and trades.

This is an in-office, in-person role based in Florence, AL, with regular on-site meetings and showroom visits.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead clients through all interior and exterior finish selections.
  • Conduct on-site walkthroughs for electrical, cabinetry, plumbing, and lighting layouts.
  • Collaborate daily with Project Managers to maintain schedule and selection deadlines.
  • Work with architects and draftsmen during pre-construction to refine plans.
  • Create polished, organized design presentations for clients.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotes and specifications.
  • Manage and document selections in company project management software.
  • Ensure selections align with budget and construction timelines.
  • Maintain organized client files, samples, and documentation.
  • Operate effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Represent High Cotton Homes with professionalism in appearance and communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • 3+ years experience in residential new construction.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Working knowledge of cabinetry, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and finish systems.
  • Construction knowledge sufficient for on-site client meetings.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Chief Architect experience.
  • AutoCAD or Revit experience.
  • Experience using construction or project management software.
