Position Overview

The Lead Machine Operator is responsible for operating machining and fabrication equipment while overseeing the day-to-day function of the shop. This is a fully hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, independence, and responsibility for shop operations.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in manual machining, along with the ability to prioritize work, maintain shop organization, and support operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage daily shop activities and workflow
  • Perform manual machining and fabrication of stainless-steel components (primarily 304 and 316)
  • Operate equipment including manual lathe, pipe bender/roll bender, ironworker, and drill press
  • Perform TIG welding on stainless steel as required
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabricate parts to specification
  • Ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances and finish requirements
  • Plan and prioritize work to meet project timelines
  • Maintain shop organization, tooling, and equipment
  • Identify and resolve machining or fabrication issues in real time

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on machining and fabrication experience
  • Strong experience with manual machining equipment, including manual metal lathe, pipe bender / roll bender, Ironworker, drill press and standard shop equipment.
  • Experience with TIG welding (stainless steel)
  • Proven experience working with 304 and 316 stainless-steel.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabricate parts independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading or managing a small fabrication or machine shop
  • Background in custom, low-volume, or prototype manufacturing
  • General fabrication and assembly experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay: $35 – $40 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
