Lead Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Lead Maintenance Technician works as a specialist and a lead worker in areas such as landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, irrigation, electrical, and equipment operation and maintenance. This position plans, assigns, and reviews the work of staff performing a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of campus grounds, structures, and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform skilled maintenance of facilities in areas of landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, irrigation, electrical, and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Some duties may include repairing flooring, drywall, appliances, troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, safety and security systems (lighting, locks, smoke/CO2 alarms, etc.), and HVAC systems; painting (interior and exterior); and cleaning.
  • Inspect work of others for quality, completion, safety and compliance.
  • Fix general plumbing issues including toilet and sink clogs, leaks, etc...
  • Help with clean up's and assist other staff including janitorial and day porter staff.
  • Event set up and take down, including chairs, tables, garbage cans, clean up, and any facilities related duties request by the clients.
  • Conduct all job duties in accordance with company safety protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with building administrators and staff to ensure a clean and safe environment for all students and staff.
  • Train entry level staff.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities):

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or handyman work
  • Ability to apply skilled techniques and use the tools of the following categories: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, small equipment repairs or welding.
  • Valid Driver License

Preferred education and experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience leading a maintenance team

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, pull, push 50 pounds, bending, standing and/or walking for long periods of time.

Other Requirements:

Must pass federal background check (Livescan) and TB (tubercolosis) test.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
