Lead Maintenance Technician
Pay: $30+ per hour (DOE & Qualifications)
We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Lead Maintenance Technician to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and repair of our facilities and equipment. This role is ideal for a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values detailed record-keeping, and takes pride in maintaining efficient, well-documented systems.
As a working lead, you will supervise and support the maintenance team while actively performing complex repairs and ensuring all assets are maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance staff
- Assign and prioritize daily work orders and projects
- Develop team schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks
- Inspect completed work to maintain quality standards
Organization & Log Keeping
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs and records
- Track, prioritize, and document all activities
- Ensure all preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections are properly recorded
- Establish and improve organizational systems for efficiency and accountability
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Perform and oversee complex repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and appliances
- Diagnose issues quickly and implement effective solutions
Preventive Maintenance
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs
- Proactively identify potential issues to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
Vendor & Project Coordination
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialized work
- Ensure vendor work meets quality and safety standards
Inventory & Shop Management
- Maintain organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies
- Monitor stock levels and reorder materials as needed
- Keep maintenance areas clean, safe, and efficient
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability
Emergency Response
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in maintenance or facilities operations, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership role
- Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs
- Certifications: HVAC certification or other technical certifications highly preferred
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold a team accountable while remaining hands-on
- Organization: Exceptional attention to detail with strong documentation and log-keeping skills
- Communication: Clear and professional communication with staff, management, and vendors
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50–80 lbs, climb ladders, work on rooftops, and perform duties in various weather conditions
