Lead Medical Assistant – Dermatology

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Medical Assistant to support daily clinical operations and provide leadership to our MA team across our St. Petersburg and Palmetto locations.

This role is ideal for a strong MA who is ready to step into a leadership position and help ensure clinic flow, staff accountability, and high-quality patient care. You will work closely with the Practice Manager and providers to keep both clinics running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day workflow of Medical Assistants across both office locations
• Travel between St. Petersburg and Palmetto offices as needed to support clinic operations
• Support and train new and existing MAs on clinical protocols and best practices
• Assist providers with patient care, including rooming, procedures, and documentation
• Ensure proper room turnover, stocking, and clinical readiness throughout the day
• Monitor MA performance and provide real-time coaching and feedback
• Help manage staffing needs, including coverage for call-outs or schedule gaps
• Maintain high standards for patient care, professionalism, and efficiency
• Troubleshoot workflow issues and keep clinic running on time

What This Role Is Not

This is not just a rooming position.
This role requires leadership, initiative, and accountability for clinic flow and team performance.

Requirements

• Dermatology experience required
• Prior Medical Assistant experience required
• Strong understanding of dermatology workflows and procedures (biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, etc.)
• Ability to multitask and manage a fast-paced clinic environment
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable giving direction and holding team members accountable
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between both office locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Lead MA or supervisory experience
• Experience training or onboarding new staff
• Familiarity with EMR systems (Nextech or ModMed preferred)
