SUMMARY
Reporting to the District Manager, the MOHs Medical Assistant Lead oversees the surgical clinical operations for assigned dermatology clinics in accordance with company policies, procedures, and federal and state laws and regulations. The person in this role provides leadership to MOHs Medical Assistants, focused generally on the surgical clinical functions of the offices and oversees other clinical support positions as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Report to the MOHs Manager/District Manager for designated scope of offices as assigned
2. Oversee other MOHs Medical Assistants triage patients in order of priority and provide direction on the case order to ensure schedule is running efficiently and on time
3. Evaluate skills of clinical support staff for competency levels
4. Provide skills training and coaching to team members for individual development while ensuring clinic quality standards and customer service goals are met or exceeded
5. Provide input for performance evaluations and make recommendations for employment decisions
6. Oversees individual and team adherence to schedule, attendance, and timeliness in arriving to work
7. Communicate with staff either one-on-one or in groups as needed
8. Submit and balance inventory, maintaining supply levels as needed
9. Oversee day-to-day operations of clinic to ensure provider satisfaction while maintaining efficient production tracking
10. Triage patients in order of priority and provide direction to Mohs Medical Assistants on the case order to ensure schedule is running efficiently and on time
11. Create/maintain day-to-day schedules
12. Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by Management
13. Ensure proper maintenance of tracking logs which will also include results received, communications with patients, and follow-up required
14. Coordinate and/or delegate outside referrals and home health care when required
15. Disclose information when required, using appropriate guidelines and following HIPAA regulations
16. Maintain drug samples, injectables, and medical supplies on hand, managing expiration dates
17. Attend/conduct staff meetings and complete mandatory in-service education/training
18. Ensure a clean clinical work environment, making sure all offices are cleaned and maintained organization upon leaving
19. Be proficient at assisting with Surgical Procedures, and perform 10 monthly - 5 layers and 5 closures signed off clinically by providers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Knowledge of ADCS policies, including quality assurance policies and applicable government regulations and standards, and the ability to actively apply that knowledge in the performance of all job duties
2. Knowledge of electronic health record access-level privileges and responsibilities, and the ability to perform duties relating to electronic health records within the parameters as assigned for limited access as allowed for this position; ability to oversee related tasks as performed by other staff
3. Ability to apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control in the performance of all job duties, including the cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments in the autoclave
4. Ability to practice confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations with patient information
5. Ability to practice professional ethics and use discretion concerning ADCS directives and proprietary information/trade secrets of the organization
6. Ability to recognize a problem and effectively problem-solve, using guidance from the provider and/or management when necessary
7. Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to use appropriately
8. Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize, multi-task, and adapt to change
9. Ability to maintain high level of accuracy in all documentation and in the performance of all job duties
10. Ability to perform the essential job duties within the scope of education and training
11. Skilled in typing/keyboarding; skilled in using computers
12. Demonstrated leadership ability to develop an efficient and customer-focused team to facilitate a smooth workflow in the clinic
13. Demonstrated skill in ensuring that work of all support staff team members is completed in an accurate and timely manner with particular attention given to details

EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or higher preferred
- Completion of Medical Assisting course required
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, required
- Previous experience in a Mohs dermatology clinic, required
- Previous experience with electronic health records preferred
- Previous management experience preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
To the extent necessary for the performance of the job duties of a MOHs Medical Assistant – such as pharmacology-related job duties (mixing medications, Botox, lidocaine, etc.) – the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and follow instructions, both written and verbal. Must possess strong problem identification and resolution skills to effectively oversee and provide direction to Medical Assistants and other assigned clinical support staff. Must be able to resolve complications involving several variables in sometimes stressful situations, in accordance with company policies and values.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a medical clinic and offices. Involves frequent telephone and in-person contact with patients, staff, vendors, providers, and management. Requires some flexibility in working hours. Requires the ability to work in a demanding environment and to effectively resolve conflicts as they arise. Occasional weekend and evening work required. Occasional travel may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires sitting with prolonged periods of walking and standing. Tasks require grasping, fine finger and hand dexterity, and computer keyboarding and mouse usage. This position requires that the associate be able to push/pull, reach, bend, and kneel/crouch/squat. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Normal vision required, with or without corrective lenses. Normal hearing is required.
