Lead Monitor / Case Worker

Overview
Western Star Hospital Authority is seeking a dedicated and energetic Lead Monitor / Case Worker to join our team, committed to providing exceptional support and supervision within our community programs. This vital role involves overseeing daily operations, managing casework, and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in our care. As a Lead Monitor / Case Worker, you will play a key role in fostering a secure, nurturing environment while coordinating services that promote positive outcomes for men and women. Your leadership will inspire team collaboration, uphold program standards, and deliver compassionate support to those in need.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate Monitor staff during assigned shift to ensure continuous and compliant site coverage
  • Conduct unannounced and announced health, welfare, and safety checks of all shelter units and restroom/shower trailers
  • Coordinate biweekly shelter inspections; submit written inspection reports within 24 hours
  • Notify Program Manager of any negative incident within 1 hour; complete written incident reports within 24 hours
  • Provide a Daily Action Report (DAR) to the Program Manager at the end of each shift
  • Manage afterhours drop-in admissions (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM); ensure shelter personnel receive a meal or snack upon entry
  • Maintain all required operational logs: meal preference, supply inventory, animal, vacant unit, vehicle, maintenance, and personal belongings
  • Assist in developing and updating policies, procedures, and SOPs
  • Facilitate shelter personnel community meetings and coordinate with stakeholders and departments on contraband and safety matters

Oversee unit turnover process and assist with bed assignments following shelter personnel discharges.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required; some college education or higher preferred — High School Diploma or GED considered with demonstrated relevant experience
  • Current and valid AED, CPR, First Aid, and Narcan certifications (contractor responsible for renewal throughout the life of the contract)
  • Current and valid California Food Handler Card
  • Minimum 1 year of direct experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
  • Demonstrated competency in professional email communications and institutional correspondence
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with substance use disorders
  • Cultural competency across differences in culture, religion, sexual orientation, race, age, and physical/mental health status
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist; ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in proximity with service animals and emotional support animals
  • Knowledge of Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Trauma-Informed Care principles preferred

Pay: $25.50 - $30.50 per hour
