OLD COLONY Y JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Lead Monitor, OCC Community Justice Support Center CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Director, OCC CJSC
JOB SUMMARY: The Lead Monitor is responsible for oversight of all monitoring activities at the
Center. S/he is responsible for scheduling of staff, coverage of vacant shifts, and oversight of urine
drug screens from participants. S/he will communicate with Center management on all issues and
write reports as needed while ensuring a safe and secure environment for both staff and
participants. S/he will ensure that participants enter and exit the Center in an appropriate manner
and remain in assigned areas.
JOB FUNCTION:Program/Department Responsibility:
Supervise all monitoring operations at Center.
Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
Fill vacant shifts as needed.
Provide direct monitoring of participants in all phases of daily routines including break
periods.
Monitor all educational and clinical classes/groups.
Take accurate attendance of all participants.
Maintain accurate communications log entries.
Collection and documentation of urine screens.
Write incident reports as needed and communicate concerns to program management.
Responsible for on-going training of monitoring staff.
Provide feedback on performance to staff and conduct annual performance reviews.
Screens and presents candidates for hire to program management.
Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and trainings as directed.
Provide transportation in assigned program vehicle when required.
Prevent crisis situations from escalating by intervening and counseling participants.
Provide support and assistance in any crisis situation.
Maintain work schedule as directed.
Other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor(s).
Supervision of Personnel: Provide training and supervision of the monitoring staff at the Center.
Fiscal Responsibility: Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures such as petty cash, purchase
orders, vouchers and employee expenses as requested.
Facility/Housekeeping Responsibility: Ensure that the monitoring reception areas, offices and
assigned vehicles meet the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance.
Interdivisional/Community/Volunteer Responsibility:
Attend all assigned meetings.
Actively participate in the Y's Annual Campaign.

Education/Experience/Physical Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or similar field preferred.
Associates Degree with a minimum of four (4) years experience working in the criminal
justice field will be considered.
At least one year of supervisory experience required.
Must have visual and auditory acuity in order to maintain security of the center.
Computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams).
Valid Massachusetts Driver's License and good driving record.
Must submit and pass drug testing upon hire.
A minimum of one evening shift weekly and some weekend availability required.
Some traveling required for meetings and trainings
Must be able to walk, sit, stand during the work day.
CLOSING STATEMENT:
To ensure the overall operations of the Y and support teamwork, I will accept additional
responsibilities as assigned. In addition, I understand that my work location and hours of
employment are subject to change to meet the business needs of the Old Colony Y.
