Under the supervision of our Clinical Manager, our Lead Ophthalmic Technician reports primarily out of our Medford practice and is responsible for assisting with all functions of the clinical department while also having a focus on satellite office management. The Lead Ophthalmic Technician serves as a liaison between the site staff and management while also supporting clinics working alongside fellow technicians. This may include but is not limited to practicing customer service excellence by “working up” patients in the clinic, coordinating patients' visits, maintaining equipment and supplies, and communicating the needs of the office to the appropriate manager. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, but may require flexibility depending on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities:
- Perform various ophthalmic tests and measurements, such as visual acuity, lensometry, and tonometry
- Assist ophthalmologists in diagnostic procedures and surgeries
- Obtain patient medical history and document relevant information in medical records
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the physician
- Conduct preliminary tests for patients, including taking ocular measurements and performing visual field tests
- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens use
- Assist with medical billing, coding, and record keeping
- Maintain inventory of ophthalmic supplies and ensure equipment is properly maintained
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and equipment
- Proficiency in medical billing, coding, and record management systems
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Knowledge of pediatric eye care is a plus
- Experience in sales or retail math is beneficial
- Familiarity with NexTech/NexGen Medical Record System preferred
