Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dedicated dental team. In this vital role, you will oversee and coordinate all chairside assisting activities within the oral surgeon, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional patient care. Your leadership will help foster a collaborative environment, uphold infection control standards, and support the delivery of high-quality surgical procedures. Duties

  • Lead and supervise the oral surgery assisting team, providing mentorship and training to ensure best practices in chairside assistance and patient care.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilization procedures in accordance with aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
  • Assist oral surgeons during complex surgical procedures, including extractions, implant placements and biopsies ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, verifying medical histories, taking vital signs, and updating medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Take high-quality dental radiographs (panoral X-ray) and operate 3D CBCT scanner as needed for diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and securing medical documentation and records.
  • Coordinate with dental reception staff to facilitate smooth communication between patients, providers, and administrative teams.
  • Monitor inventory levels of surgical supplies and dental materials, ensuring proper sterilization and infection control standards are maintained at all times.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery procedures.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate documentation of patient records and medical coding.
  • Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes within a dental clinic environment.
  • Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures.
  • Ability to operate dental radiography equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and provide outstanding patient service.
  • Knowledge of medical documentation standards related to vital signs monitoring and medical imaging procedures.
