The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Painterto join our team. We are looking for an individual with a solid, traditional painting background who is also eager to adapt to modern workflows.
At Royal Paint Company, we utilize the newest technology for time tracking and site communication. The ideal candidate is a master of the trade but also comfortable using smartphone apps to streamline the workday.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead crews on residential repaints and new construction sites, ensuring all work meets our high-end standards.
- Progress Tracking: Utilize Company Camand other internal apps for daily progress tracking and time management.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with homeowners, general contractors, and other trades on-site. You will act as the primary point of contact for the Project Manager regarding scheduling and progress updates.
- Technical Execution: Read and interpret blueprints and paint keys to ensure accuracy.
- Site Management: Maintain a clean and safe job site, including cleaning brushes/rollers and organizing tools at the end of each day.
- Finishing: Perform expert-level staining and woodworking finishing.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a Crew Lead position specifically in residential repaints and new construction.
- Tech Savvy: Must be willing and able to utilize apps and technology for time tracking and communication.
- Product Knowledge: Deep knowledge of Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, and O’Leary products.
- Process Knowledge: A solid understanding of the complete process of painting a new construction house from start to finish.
- Logistics: Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites (typically within a 30-minute drive of downtown Lansing).
- Soft Skills: Ability to meet strict deadlines and adapt to new ways of doing things.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly wage at $25/hr
- 401(k) Retirement Plan: Eligible after 6 months of employment with a 3% company match.
- Paid Time Off: 1 week of paid vacation awarded after 1 year of employment.
