We are in search of a Parts Buyer Lead to join our growing team. This role will manage all parts-related data and pricing in the main ERP system and oversees daily purchasing activities to ensure technicians receive the parts needed for timely, cost-effective repairs. This role also captures key procurement and performance reports that drive operational efficiency. As a lead-level contributor, this position provides operational oversight of parts buyers, serves as the primary backup during staffing shortages, and partners with vendors, technicians, and internal service teams to optimize parts availability and pricing.
Responsibilities Include:
ERP & Data Management
- Manage and maintain the parts database
- Validate and update pricing in the ERP system
- Add new parts requested by service and sales teams
Purchasing & Vendor Management
- Source and purchase parts, tools, and supplies
- Maintain vendor relationships and pricing files
- Negotiate pricing and lead times when applicable
Inventory & Logistics
- Maintain optimal inventory levels and reorder as needed
- Track order status to ensure timely delivery
Team & Operational Support
- Provide daily oversight of parts buyer operations
- Serve as a backup buyer during staffing shortages
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency
Compliance & Safety
- Follow safety procedures and complete required training
- Ensure adherence to company procurement policies
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or a related field
- Experience with service operations or parts purchasing is a plus
- Prophet 21 data maintenance system usage is a significant plus
- Ability to physically sit at a desk for long periods, operate a computer, and listen/speak clearly on the phone and in-person
- Ability to pass job-related employment screenings, to include a criminal background check and drug test
- Strong ERP/data entry skills (Prophet 21)
- Purchasing or procurement knowledge
- Vendor negotiation and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous requests
- Analytical and reporting skills (Excel, dashboards, etc.)
- Organizational and time management skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
