Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Lead Planning Engineer to manage project planning, scheduling, and progress control across multiple projects. The role is responsible for developing baseline schedules, monitoring progress, forecasting delays, and supporting project execution teams to ensure timely completion.
Key Responsibilities:1. Project Planning & Baseline Development (Core)
- Develop detailed baseline schedules using Primavera P6
- Prepare WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) aligned with project scope
- Define project milestones, timelines, and critical activities
- Coordinate with all departments (engineering, procurement, fabrication, site) for schedule inputs
- Ensure baseline schedule approval from management/client
2. Schedule Monitoring & Control
- Track project progress against baseline
- Update schedules on weekly/monthly basis
- Identify delays, slippages, and critical path impacts
- Prepare lookahead schedules (2-week / 4-week)
- Recommend corrective actions and recovery plans
3. Progress Measurement & Reporting
- Collect progress data from site, fabrication, and procurement teams
- Validate physical progress vs planned progress
- Prepare:
- Daily / Weekly / Monthly progress reports
- S-curve analysis
- KPI dashboards
- Present reports to management and client
4. Delay Analysis & Claims Support
- Perform delay analysis (EOT, disruption analysis)
- Identify causes of delay and maintain delay logs
- Support commercial/QS team with:
- Extension of Time (EOT) claims
- Variation impact analysis
- Prepare supporting documents for claims submission
5. Resource Planning & Optimization
- Plan manpower, equipment, and material requirements
- Ensure optimal utilization of project resources
- Coordinate with procurement for material delivery schedules
- Align fabrication and site execution schedules
6. Coordination with Departments
- Work closely with:
- Project Managers
- Site Engineers
- Production/Fabrication Team
- Procurement Department
- Ensure smooth workflow between design, fabrication, and erection
7. Risk Management
- Identify potential project risks and delays
- Develop mitigation strategies
- Monitor high-risk activities and propose contingency plans
8. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain planning records:
- Baseline schedule
- Updates and revisions
- Delay logs
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements
9. Team Leadership
- Lead and guide junior planning engineers
- Review schedules and reports prepared by team
- Ensure standardization of planning procedures across projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 8–15 years of experience in planning & scheduling
- Strong experience in:
- Steel Structure / PEB / Fabrication / Construction projects
- GCC / UAE projects (preferred)
Technical Skills:
- Expert in Primavera P6 (Mandatory)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Critical Path Method (CPM)
- Resource Loading & Leveling
- Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Proficient in:
- MS Excel (Advanced)
- MS Project (optional)
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
