Westover Surgery is seeking to recruit an experienced, innovative, and enthusiastic Lead Practice Nurse to join our established, friendly, and supportive multidisciplinary team. Our team includes GPs, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Paramedics, First Contact MSK Practitioner and administrative staff.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious nurse to step into a Lead Practice Nurse role. The successful candidate will provide effective leadership and overall management of a high-performing nursing team. While previous leadership experience would be advantageous, it is not essential, as mentoring and support will be provided by the outgoing Lead Nurse and the strong current nursing team.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills in chronic disease management, with particular experience in diabetes, asthma, and COPD. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, forward-thinking approach are essential.

Main Duties of the Role

We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse who will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred nursing care across the practice population.

As Lead Nurse, you will:

• Provide leadership and day-to-day management of the nursing team
• Work closely with GPs and the Practice Manager to deliver high-quality clinical services
• Ensure effective utilisation and development of nursing resources
• Support service development and continuous improvement initiatives

You will also oversee key clinical areas, including:

• Infection prevention and control
• Health promotion and disease prevention
• Chronic disease management (including diabetes, asthma, and COPD)
• Well woman and well man clinics
• Clinical policy development, review, and implementation

Job Description

Role: Lead General Practice Nurse
Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: Part time – 24 hours per week
Start Date: Immediate / as soon as possible

Accountable to:

• GP Partners (clinical)
• Practice Manager (managerial)

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Falmouth TR11 4QJ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

• Practice Nursing: 1 year (required)
