What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) Inspire with Engaging Lesson Plans
- Design and implement creative, developmentally appropriate, Montessori-aligned lesson plans.
- Collaborate weekly with your co-teacher and the Director to refine curriculum and share ideas.
- Build lessons that promote independence, exploration, and a love of learning.
Support Student Growth & Family Communication
- Observe, track, and document students’ developmental progress.
- Maintain strong, warm communication with families to share accomplishments, updates, and milestones.
- Lead with empathy, professionalism, and a child-centered approach.
Maintain a Structured & Joyful Classroom
- Create a beautiful, organized, intentional classroom environment that reflects Montessori values.
- Use strong classroom management skills to build routines and foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
Keep Accurate & Organized Records
- Ensure attendance, health documentation, and daily logs are completed with accuracy and care.
Collaborate as a Team Player
- Partner closely with your co-teacher to design meaningful hands-on activities.
- Uphold school procedures and contribute to a supportive, respectful team culture.
Ensure Child Safety & Well-Being
- Actively supervise children and follow all NJ licensing and center safety guidelines.
- Report concerns promptly and follow proper protocols.
Grow Professionally
- Stay updated with New Jersey educational regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development—because at Scotch Plains Montessori, we believe great teachers never stop learning.
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications & Skills)
Preferred:
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, or equivalent
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Experience in preschool, daycare, childcare center, Montessori classroom, or early learning environment
- Passion for early childhood education and academic readiness
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Excellent communication skills
- Team-oriented, patient, and enthusiastic
