Job Title: Lead Rotating / Package Equipment Engineer

Experience Level: 15+ Years

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Operations Manager


Job Purpose

To lead and manage the engineering, selection, specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of rotating / package equipment packages for large-scale industrial projects. Ensures reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of rotating machinery in compliance with project standards, client requirements, and international codes.


Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering & Design

  • Develop and review technical specifications, datasheets, and design documents for all rotating / packages equipment including compressors, pumps, turbines, blowers, gearboxes, chemical injection package, flare package, etc.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable international standards (API, ISO, ASME, ANSI, NEMA, etc.) and project specifications.
  • Perform equipment sizing, selection, and performance evaluation based on process data sheets.
  • Prepare mechanical datasheets
  • Review vendor documents — GA drawings, performance curves, P&IDs, control philosophy, and mechanical details.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and ensure mechanical integration with piping, structures, and electrical systems.

2. Vendor & Procurement Management

  • Prepare technical requisitions and evaluate vendor offers during the bid stage.
  • Lead technical bid evaluations (TBE) and vendor clarification meetings.
  • Coordinate with procurement and project teams to ensure timely equipment delivery and document submission.
  • Conduct vendor design review and ensure compliance with project requirements.

3. Project Execution

  • Provide engineering support during fabrication, inspection, testing (FAT/SAT), and installation phases.
  • Review and approve vendor quality control plans and inspection test plans (ITPs).
  • Resolve technical issues arising during manufacturing, site installation, and commissioning.
  • Ensure all rotating equipment is installed, aligned, and commissioned in accordance with OEM recommendations and best engineering practices.

4. Reliability & Maintenance Support

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of rotating equipment failures.
  • Recommend design or material improvements for enhanced reliability and maintenance optimization.
  • Support predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.

5. Leadership & Coordination

  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and drafters in the rotating equipment discipline.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams including process, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and civil.
  • Represent the rotating equipment discipline in client and vendor meetings.
  • Support preparation of project execution plans, man-hour estimates, and schedules.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in rotating equipment design, engineering, and maintenance, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power plant projects.
  • Strong experience with major equipment types:
  • Centrifugal & reciprocating compressors
  • API process pumps
  • Steam/gas turbines
  • Cooling tower fans, blowers, and agitators
  • Sound knowledge of API 610, 617, 618, 619, 611, 612, 670 , and related standards.
  • Proven record of managing vendors, EPC contractors, and multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Experience in Engineering, EPC or PMC roles for major oil & gas or refinery projects.
  • Exposure to greenfield and brownfield environments.
  • Experience in FEED, Detailed Design, and Commissioning stages.
