Lead Server – Union Sushi + BBQ + Izakaya

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Server to join our team. This role is designed for individuals with proven leadership experience in a restaurant setting, not entry-level servers. The Lead Server will play a key role in driving service excellence, mentoring staff, and ensuring smooth front-of-house operations in a fast-paced, upscale dining environment.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Japanese cuisine, sushi, and beverage pairings, along with the ability to lead by example and deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead by example in delivering exceptional, high-touch guest service
• Supervise and support servers during service to ensure consistency and efficiency
• Train, mentor, and guide front-of-house staff on service standards, menu knowledge, and upselling techniques
• Greet and engage guests, ensuring a welcoming and memorable dining experience
• Take and manage orders accurately using Toast POS
• Coordinate closely with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely and accurate service
• Proactively resolve guest concerns and elevate the overall dining experience
• Drive upselling and revenue growth through strong menu knowledge and recommendations
• Maintain cleanliness and organization across the dining room and service stations
• Assist management with opening/closing duties and service flow oversight

Qualifications (Required)

• 3+ years of restaurant experience, including at least 1 year in a Lead Server or supervisory role (REQUIRED)
• Experience in Japanese cuisine or sushi restaurants strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of sushi, sake, and Japanese dining customs
• Proven ability to lead, train, and manage service teams during busy shifts
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced, upscale environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high service standards
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Working Conditions

This position requires standing for extended periods, walking, and carrying trays in a high-energy environment. The Lead Server must be able to manage service under pressure while maintaining composure and professionalism.

Compensation

Pay is market competitive and based on experience, with strong earning potential for qualified candidates

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $19.00 per hour
