Job Description

Role Overview:

The Lead Software Specialist – Healthcare Systems Integration is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining integration solutions across healthcare applications, medical devices, laboratory analyzers, and enterprise systems. Leveraging the Rhapsody Integration Engine and other middleware technologies, this role ensures seamless interoperability between HIS/EMR, ancillary systems (LIS, RIS, PACS, VNA), national healthcare platforms (NPHIES, Ayenati, CHI, NHIC), and non-clinical systems (ERP, CRM, ITSM, HR, Portals). The position plays a vital role in enabling data flow across the healthcare ecosystem, ensuring compliance with interoperability standards and regulatory frameworks while contributing to digital transformation initiatives.

Areas of Responsibility:
Operations Management:
  • Design, configure, and maintain integrations using Rhapsody or similar integration engines.
  • Develop HL7, FHIR, CDA, and DICOM-based interfaces for clinical and enterprise applications.
  • Implement and support integrations with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, ITSM, HR, Portals).
  • Manage national healthcare system integrations, including NPHIES, Ayenati, CHI, Core Registries, etc.
  • Oversee medical device and lab analyzer integrations (ASTM, POCT1-A, vendor-specific protocols).
  • Collaborate with vendors, biomedical engineering, solution architects, and application owners to define integration workflows.
  • Perform data mapping, transformation, and interface testing to ensure accurate and secure data exchange.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues and provide Level 2/3 support for medical devices, lab systems, and enterprise applications.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data regulations (HIPAA, PDPL, GDPR, NCA ECC, NDMO) and interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, IHE).
  • Document interface specifications, workflows, and operational processes.
  • Support upgrades, migrations, and digital transformation initiatives while maintaining integration continuity.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance integration processes and best practices within the team.
  • Participate in code reviews and integration testing to maintain reliability and security.
  • Stay updated with emerging healthcare interoperability standards and middleware technologies.

Knowledge Management:

  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on best practices and new technologies in healthcare integration.
  • Mentor junior integration engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for developed integration solutions and workflows.

Technical Skills




Understanding of healthcare data regulations and interoperability frameworks.
Proven expertise in healthcare integration engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf), including configuration, routing, filters, transformations, and error handling.
Experience with HL7, FHIR, CDA, DICOM, IHE profiles, and API/web service integrations (REST/SOAP).
Hands-on experience with medical device and lab analyzer integration (ASTM, POCT1-A, vendor-specific protocols).
Familiarity with enterprise systems integration (ERP, CRM, ITSM, Portals).
