Lead the development and testing of our innovative and market-leading statistical software. Assist team members on the implementation of complex and innovative statistical algorithms in software products.
This is a technical leadership role that involves solving complex statistical problems and working independently, while collaborating with other leaders to meet your project’s objectives. Depending upon the project need, may lead less experienced statisticians in the team and oversee their work.
Education:
Master’s or Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Statistics, or Mathematics
Experience:
At least 5 years’ experience working as a Statistician in a software development team testing or programming complex statistical algorithms
Experienced Biostatisticians/Analysts/Data Scientists from Life Sciences industry with strong knowledge of areas like clinical trial designing or complex data analysis may be considered as well.
Experience working in Agile Scrum teams and knowledge of frameworks like Scrum
At least 3 years of scientific programming experience using a language like R, Python, or Julia
Skills:
Strong knowledge of specific statistical and mathematical methods relevant to Cytel’s products (e.g., Bayesian methods applied to clinical trials, multiplicity adjustment methods, adaptive designs, etc.)
Strong knowledge of clinical trial domain
Advanced knowledge of programming languages like R, Python, or Julia
Knowledge of some project management, documentation, and code repository tools (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, TestRail preferred)
Knowledge of SDLC processes and regulatory compliance requirements applicable to software development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and collaborative mindset with the ability to network with senior professionals in own area of expertise

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in your project team, study business requirements carefully, extract statistical requirements from them, and guide team members on the development and testing of these statistical requirements.
Write detailed technical documents and validation strategies for the statistical algorithms to be developed and tested.
Guide statistician testers on developing validators and test cases for statistical algorithms and review work done by them ensuring its quality, completeness, and timeliness.
Follow applicable processes and guide team members on the same.
Work with other leads to plan and lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint demos, and retrospectives.
Provide technical coaching to less experienced statisticians and share relevant feedback with their managers.
Present own work and learnings at internal forums.
Develop a strong T-shaped technical skillset by undergoing appropriate trainings and courses and attending relevant industry events.
Participate in hiring less experienced statisticians by conducting technical interviews.
Participate in activities like vendor risk assessment and tool qualification for vendors and tools relevant to statisticians’ work.
Work closely with your manager to meet your own goals.
