General Description

Under the direction of the Director of Customer Operations, the Lead Steel Fabrication Buyer will review steel fabrication prints and assess vendor capabilities to determine the best vendors for quoting. This role will be crucial in ensuring the efficient procurement of high-quality steel components for our manufacturing processes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Review and analyze steel fabrication prints to understand project requirements.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and performance to select the most suitable vendors for quoting.
  • Obtain and compare quotes from multiple vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with vendors to secure favorable agreements.
  • Monitor and manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to align procurement activities with project timelines and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, vendor performance, and cost analysis.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies in steel fabrication.
  • Help drive and support BCT Culture and Core Values
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • C.P.M. preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with, and proficiency in using, an ERP system for manufacturing support functions.
  • Three to five years of relevant purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
