Job Summary
Little Cubs Learning Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will provide leadership within the classroom, develop engaging and inclusive curricula, and support the developmental and educational needs of children with diverse abilities.
This role focuses on fostering a nurturing, structured environment that promotes learning, social-emotional growth, and individualized support for children with disabilities or developmental delays. The Lead Teacher will collaborate with staff, families, and specialists to deliver high-quality education aligned with best practices in early childhood and special education.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage classroom activities, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Develop, implement, and adapt curriculum plans to meet the needs of children with disabilities, including autism and developmental delays
- Apply effective classroom and behavior management techniques to promote engagement and appropriate behavior
- Incorporate speech therapy strategies, behavioral supports, literacy education, math instruction, and physical education into daily lesson plans
- Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Conduct developmental assessments and utilize standardized tools to monitor student progress
- Use learning technology tools to enhance instruction and student engagement
- Implement early intervention strategies supporting childhood development, language acquisition, and social skills
- Maintain detailed documentation, including lesson plans, student progress, IEP goals, and family communication
- Support staff professional development and participate in ongoing training related to early childhood and special education practices
- Ensure all classroom practices comply with licensing regulations and center policies
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood education or special education settings (preschool or daycare experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of childhood development, behavior management, literacy education, math instruction, and physical education
- Familiarity with classroom management strategies, curriculum development, IEP processes, and supporting children with autism or other disabilities
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with families, staff, and external specialists
- Ability to plan engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons using learning technology tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead a classroom while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment
- Knowledge of Montessori methods or private school curriculum is a plus
- Certification or licensure in Early Childhood Education or Special Education preferred (not required, depending on state requirements)
