Lead Teacher, Preschool

Position Summary

We are seeking a caring, organized, and experienced Preschool Lead Teacher to join our team. The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for preschool children while supporting their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The Lead Teacher also works closely with assistant teachers and families to ensure high-quality early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children.
• Create a warm, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Support children's social-emotional development and positive behavior.
• Observe and document children’s progress and developmental milestones.
• Maintain daily communication with families about children’s activities and development.
• Ensure classroom follows OSSE licensing regulations and safety procedures.
• Supervise and guide assistant teachers in the classroom.
• Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and learning materials.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
• Ensure proper supervision and maintain teacher-to-child ratios at all times.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (OSSE requirement for Lead Teachers).
• Experience working with preschool-aged children (3–5 years old).
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to pass required background checks and fingerprinting.
