Position Summary
Our center is seeking an experienced and passionate individual who will inspire our young learners, manage classroom activities, and ensure that we continue to provide exceptional care and education to the children in our community. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration, creativity, and social development.

As a Lead School-Age Teacher, you will:

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging school-age classroom environment.
  • Ensure all program safety and supervision standards are consistently followed.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions, independence, and responsible decision-making.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions with children and families.
  • Support children in daily self-help needs (if applicable), promoting independence and dignity.
  • Facilitate age-appropriate activities, homework support, games, and group projects that align with program goals.
  • Communicate with families regarding child progress, behavior, accomplishments, or concerns as needed.
  • Distribute meals/snacks prepared by kitchen staff and ensure proper sanitation before and after eating.
  • Implement classroom schedules, curriculum plans, and behavior expectations that support social-emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and leadership staff to support program success, enrollment, and overall quality.
  • Work independently, taking initiative and maintaining awareness of child needs and classroom flow.
  • Serve as a classroom floater/breaker when needed to support ratio and program operations.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Must be able to pass a portable background check (DCYF) and TB test
  • Current CPR, First Aid/HIV, Bloodborne Pathogens, and food handler’s certifications
  • Creativity, compassion, and professionalism are a MUST.
  • Physically able to perform tasks, including sitting on the floor, bending, and/or standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be registered with MERIT (DCYF) and have a STARS ID Number
  • Required Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma/Equivalent (required)
  • Initial and Short ECE Stackable certificates or AA/AA-S in Early Childhood Education (preferrred)
  • 30 hours STARS Childcare Basics (required)

Shift:

Monday-Friday

Wage: $16.75-$24.00 hourly (wage ladder based on credentials and experience)
